pocket garden

Gravel garden Auckland New Zealand

project

‘Pocket garden’ is a project that looks for opportunities that lie in small spaces. When spaces are smaller, what we do (or don’t do) becomes a little more crucial and obvious to the eye. This projects aim was to bring new life to the spaces, with permeability and high diversity planting. Flowering perennials provide seasonal change and colour, emerging out of an undercurrent of New Zealand native plants.

The garden is comprised of two key spaces; a welcoming entrance garden and a private gravel garden. The entrance garden doubles as a quiet spot to enjoy a morning coffee in the sun. We aim to include the principles of ‘Sponge City’ in all that we do. In short, more plants = more permeability for water and more habitat for life.
